Luc Vilain started the Dojo on April 22nd, 1993. Trying to find premises to practice karate was not an easy job. With a lot of patience, the parish priest was finally convinced that the mission of Shotokan was not contrary to the Church teaching. After one year, father Levac gave us the key to the community room. Our friendship strengthened and we were authorized to do some carpentry work to install punching bags.

Luc Vilain became Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in 1994 under Master Ohshima. He guided seven of his students to attain the black belt level: Mathieu Des Groseilliers (Nidan), Chris Malin (Nidan), Fayçal Beydoun (Nidan), Sean Booth (Shodan), Carine Martineau (Shodan), Yannick Des Groseilliers (Shodan), Karim Yasmine (Shodan) and Éric Souillac (Shodan). Luc always showed us, through leading by example, the value of discipline, hard training and always being honest with ourselves. He has helped us become better human beings. For that, we will forever be thankful.

In the summer of 2006 Luc Vilain was awarded the rank of Yodan (4th degree black belt) by Master Ohshima.
